Week of September 29

Last week’s events and this past weekend all round up into one post. Bam. We started this blog out by posting our meals from the week prior and writing a quick blurb about what went on the weekend before as well. Well- writing about what happened in your life 7 days ago makes you feel like you are old with memory loss. I cannot remember if I flossed or not the night before, let alone what events took place 7-9 days ago. So- The food will still be what we ate the week prior (to make sure it was good and if we even want to post it) but the writing of events will be current.

So, last weekend was Dan’s birthday. We celebrated by going to a pre-season Avalanche game, indulging in Park Burger, and then the real celebrations started when us and six of our close friends went up to Fort Collins, CO to party in Dan’s old college stomping grounds. If you have not had the chance to take the New Belgium Brewery Tour – do it. So much fun, such great beer and if it is your birthday you get a free bottled beer. (As if you don’t get enough of it on the tour already).  We stayed the night in Ft. Collins and then on Sunday, Dan’s mom came over for cake and presents, and for dinner we went to one of his favorite restaurants; Steubans. Word of advice, get the gravy fries. You may hate yourself after, but your taste buds will love you. But make sure to share them. Don’t blame me for you getting sick.

Food planning was hard for us this week because we both had Monday off but I, Kyla had to take my mom to the doctor’s office and Dan went grocery shopping without me.  While I was in the waiting room, I searched pintrest and sent him a few recipes I thought looked good. Then he found a recipe as well, and there ya go, meals for the week.

Saturday was a big day. The Girls Gone Rx Crossfit Competition benefiting Barbells For Boobs was held at CrossFit Eminence in Thornton and our team competed in four different events placing 75th out of 91 teams. I am proud of all the girls who competed and am happy we raised awareness to a great cause. After a day of competing, I am normally pretty hungry because I cannot eat full meals when my nerves are going, so to celebrate Dan’s birthday with my family we got chinese food, and grubbed down. Finishing with homemade carrot cake. Amazing.

Sunday as normal- we did our grocery shopping, meal planning, and meal prep. We also napped and just relaxed. It felt great to just not do anything and be really lazy. Take time out for yourself. Be lazy. It is okay. We hope your week starts out great, and these meals find you well. Let us know if you change them to make them better so other followers can try them out that way too.
